Summary:This dissertation discusses the potential of kinetic patterns in nature and how it can be translated into sustainable design through commercial application. The eventual product explores the universal relationship between man, nature and light with hopes to capture nature's transcendental response to sunlight, namely its transformation from night to day in colour and form, and in turn, reintroduce this dynamic cycle into an urban living space in the form of a kinetic window shading system. The conceptual window shade also aims to bio mimic plant in harvesting energy through solar panels to become a self sustaining. The exploration of kinetic form is inclusive but not exclusive to window decor, other consideration include furniture design, game design and interactive display design.
