Summary:Telecommuting is a very attractive form of work arrangement. Singapore is in a favourable position for the adoption of telecommuting because it has an excellent telecommunication infrastructure and a high number of computer-literate workers. The National Computer Board has identified telecommuting in its IT2000 plan as having the potential to provide Singaporean with a more satisfying lifestyle. Several telecommuting studies have been carried out in Singapore in the past few years. This project will expand on the results found in the previous studies. Furthermore, various motivators and drawbacks of telecommuting from the perspectives of the individuals as well as the organisations involved, are ranked according to their importance. Comparison to previous studies in Singapore and overseas are made in this study. The report begins with a brief description of telecommuting. It then deals with the technological environment in which telecommuting takes place. Following this, a logical approach to implement telecommuting is recommended. Next, a discussion on the motivators and drawbacks of telecommuting to users and their organisations is presented. Following that, a description of the study conducted and its results are presented. In the last .chapter, the future research are suggested and the conclusions are presented.
