Description
Summary:This report studies the performance of numerous newly introduced refrigerants by investigating their characteristics through the use of a theoretical compressor model. This theoretical model consists of mathematical formulation including geometrical model, thermodynamics of the working fluid within the working chamber, mass flow modeling and valve response models. In this study, the characteristics of the refrigerants and their performance parameters have been compared and studied, namely: refrigerating effect, Global Warming Potential, mass flow rate, Coefficient of Performance and indicated power. Results show that most of the refrigerants are generally comparable to a certain degree in some aspects, however there is a great disparity when looking at the environmental friendliness of the newer refrigerants as compared to those currently in used.
