Description
Summary:The main thrust of this project is to explore the efficiency of the banking industry in Singapore and relate it to Singapore's economic growth. Singapore's financial sector has achieved significant growth over the past few decades and now reigns as the region's leading foreign exchange trader. Underlying this growth has been its ability to innovate but without doing so at the expense of lax supervision. As banks and other financial institutions around the world intensify their efforts to capture a larger slice of the global financial market, Singapore cannot afford to take a back seat in face of such keen competition. This study attempts to determine whether Singapore is in a vantage position to exploit opportunities that arise by capitalising in the aforementioned strengths. The bottom line is : Singapore's financial sector must continue to push for greater innovation and professionalism, yet maintaining a safe and secure social structure.
