Description
Summary:Traffic Congestion and Safety have always been one of the serious problems faced in Singapore. This is mainly due to the limit of space and also high population rate. These results in serious congestion during peak period or when an accidents occur at particular junction. There is also another bigger issue: Fuel Consumption. Therefore to improve our traffic system and improve the fuel consumption efficiency in Singapore, we require a smart technology system: V2X – Talking Car Technology. V2X (aka. C2X) consists of 2 parts: V2V (Vehicle – to – Vehicle) and also V2I (Vehicle – to – Infrastructure). This project focus on the certain applications of V2X and also certain scenarios in which we can benefit from this system before implementing into the NTU campus map (so as to ease the traffic congestion in NTU Campus especially during peak period). The simulation is created and simulated using some traffic simulators, PTV Vissim and also SUMO. The applications, data capturing and also some scenarios created are done using the Matlab. The Matlab is controlling the traffic simulator Com interface so as to aid in the investigation of easing certain areas of traffic congestion and also improve in safety like future crash prevention. However due to the some limitations of the SUMO, it is not as user-friendly as Vissim and it cannot simulate 3D/ Driver’s view during simulation what Vissim can prove. Therefore to aid in the investigation of the scenarios for the V2X applications, PTV Vissim will be a better choice. Due to certain limitations of the Matlab – Vissim Com interface, there are some features like the auto-generation of the road links cannot be done. This called for the manual-generating of the road links of the NTU campus map. The auto-generating is still undergoing research as the main focus is on the applications.
