The aim of “RepairWhere” application is to help users locate the nearest repair service center pertaining to the particular item (e.g. a watch) that users want to repair. The service center would provide repair service, corresponding to the various tangible repairable goods that consumers use, such as electronic gadgets, vehicles, watches, household appliances, etc. Users can enter their search using the product brand name or service outlet name, to find the repair service centers and also their locations in Singapore. The list of search results can be sorted according to the user’s location obtained via GPS (Global Positioning System), so that users can find the nearest repair service center from their current location. Moreover, the application is able to link to another travel application, Google Maps, to get directions. Hence, users can easily get directions to travel to the service center. Nonetheless, the application can have more features or additional functions such as the ability to browse the catalogue of service outlets, make a call to the outlet or give a rating to the outlet’s service. This report also covers how the student gathered information for the project to realize the project requirements. The main vision of the project is to develop an application that would be user-friendly, simple, publicly accessible, and directly meet users’ need of finding nearby repair services quickly. RepairWhere is specifically designed to search for repair services in a city like Singapore, and the application can support any Android devices with different Android platform versions starting from API (Application Program Interface) level 14. The minimum resolution for the Android device is 400 x 800 pixels.
