The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Maritime Studies (MS) Programme started in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2004 to acknowledge Singapore’s importance in maintaining her status of an International Maritime Hub. The emphasis is to provide avenues of maritime knowledge to its local talents in meeting the needs of this massive industry, despite being a young nation. Currently seven batches of BSc Maritime Studies students have graduated and entered the workforce. The maritime industry is a volatile one and this study aims to capture the essence to further improve the programme in meeting or exceeding the needs of the industry. This report accounts for the potential conflict of interest between the educators, alumni, industry professionals as well as the current undergraduates and aims to achieve the maximum possible coverage on each group’s expectations towards the programme as well as in the evaluation of the programme's current standing. Lastly, all the expectations will provide a platform for sound suggestions which contributes to the improvement of the course. This study breaks down the MS Programme into 3 major segments, namely: Curriculum, Exchange and Internship. Face to face interviews were conducted with the MS graduates who graduated in the year 2010 through 2014; key maritime professionals from a wide array of shipping business; educators involved in formal maritime education programmes and the current four batches of undergraduates. The focus of this report will be on the evaluation of the existing course in general, followed by the focus on the Norway-BI exchange, while the author's partner, Mr. Joseph Seah will be evaluating on the Internship aspect.
