Optimization of air distribution in the LAHU
The objective of this final year project is to assist a research team to optimize the air distribution in the Local Air Handling Unit (LAHU). An air handler is part of the Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) System where it is used to treat the return air in the building. Therefore, the...

An air handler is part of the Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) System where it is used to treat the return air in the building. Therefore, there is a need to analyse and optimize the air distribution by proper methods to ensure the most efficient air distributed to the occupants of the building. One method suggested by the research team is to install filters and Iris Dampers inside the air duct. Simulation is done and the results are compared against the results from experimenting. It is found that by install the filters and Iris Dampers help to improve the air distribution inside the air duct, therefore, resulting in better optimization of air distribution. In conclusion, optimizing air distribution in the AHU can lead to better efficiency of the air conditioning produced to occupants of the building.
