Description
Summary:This report provides an extensive literature on the impacts of climate change on building components and numerous adaptation measures suggested/adapted in various countries. A quick overview of the changes of climatic patterns in a global and regional scale is provided to have a comprehensive understanding on emergence and seriousness of climate change. As a premise for evaluating the impacts of climate change on the built environment, all available building classification systems have been covered. This report has considered the following climatic parameters such as temperature, precipitation and wind speed along with natural catastrophes such as flooding and earthquake. Adaptation suggestions for upgrading building envelope, drainage systems and structural components are briefly explained with respect to the certain climate parameters. General concepts on building design in flood-prone and seismic prone areas are reviewed from governmental documents.
