Summary: | Mobile applications have seen a sharp rise in popularity in recent years, with the advent of smartphones boasting large touch screens that are able to engage the user effectively. The dawn of this new constantly-connected era has sparked software developers into action, with many new applications for a multitude of purposes being published daily. This report seeks to provide an insight to an Android Notification System for MRT and Buses known as “Alight.sg”, which is a continuation of a previous Final Year Project called “SG Transport Alarm”, an application originally written and designed by NTU alumnus Aung Myo Min, with the aim of alerting a resting passenger just in time to alight at his desired MRT station or bus stop. The development of the application, namely the addition of underground tracking functionality which was lacking from the previous project, will be documented. The final program and its features will also be covered, as well as recommendations for future development of the program in order to improve its functionality, appearance and to make it more user-friendly. |
