In this report, the design and safety features of the EPR will be investigated to understand the special features that are provided by the EPR which defers it from the generation II reactors. The design of main components of the reactor will be explained. The improvements in the safety systems of provided by the EPR will also be investigated. Next, the economical benefits that are possible from the new design are also reviewed. Lastly, the some of the problems in the design and construction of the EPR will also be discussed.
