Summary: | The objective of this project is to study remote control and wireless data transfer
between a user and a standalone ground-penetrating radar (GPR) platform. For the
reason that the study cannot be tested on a real GPR platform, we build a remote
control car as an experimental platform. A Micro programmed Control Unit (MCU)
is used to control the movement of a car and a Wi-Fi module is used to transmit data
between the car and users. By loading a digital camera on the top of the car, it can
provide real-time video instead of the graphs of radar detecting results in actual
situation. All the operations are achieved on a personal computer (PC) client, using a
specific application to process the information and control the car. The research on
the remote control focused on the control through the Internet in this dissertation.
Meanwhile, we analyzed network delay problems of remote control system in detail
and proposed several assumptions and methods of reducing the delay in the system.
With several times of experiments, the remote control car system has accomplished
the remote control from the Internet host to the car far away from it. |
