The objective of this dissertation is to des ign a planar UHF antenna that exhibits wide bandwidth and circular polarization. In this dissertation, a novel ultra wide band (3 00 MHz -3000 MHz) antenna is designed in the first place to operate in the required frequency bands, which exhibits low profile, wide bandwidth and circular polarization. The proposed antenna that has a more compact transverse size than the conventional ones achieves the advantages of compact size, light weight, easy integration, and wideband. Moreover, simulation results show that the antenna in this dissertation obtains a very good antenna perfo rmance with low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and ax ial ratio (AR), so it is suitable for wideband communication applications. An initial design will be proposed and simulated in High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). Simulation results of the design show some crucial radiation performances that can meet the specific requirements of the circularly polarized (C P) antenna used in the wireless systems, especially in the UAV systems.
