Summary: | The Continuous Transverse Stub (CTS) antenna is implemented with an array of
continuous transverse radiating stubs extending from the upper conductive plate of
an open parallel-plate transmission-line structure, and internally excited by a TEM
mode linear source. It is an important topic for high gain antennas due to its high
radiation efficiency and aperture efficiency. CTS array is also convenient for
beam-controlling and dual-polarizations application and has the advantages of ease
fabrication and low cost, which promise its broad application prospects. In this
dissertation, design on planar CTS arrays and low-loss TEM mode linear sources are
investigated as follows. First, the radiation mechanism of CTS element is analyzed;
second, an element model with periodic boundary is established to conduct
simulation on the relationship between structure parameters and radiation
performances of CTS element.
In this dissertation, antenna structure combining SIW and CTS segment is
presented. After a literature review and introduction of antenna fundamentals, the
study focuses on two types of SIW-CTS antennas, namely, 8-element SIW-CTS
antenna and 4-element SIW-CTS antenna with rectangular ridges. This study
includes theoretical analysis, computer-aided design by the commercial software
HFSS. By the feed of coaxial and under operating frequency I OGHz, the 8-element
SIW-CTS antenna obtains 7.6% bandwidth and 45% aperture efficiency, while the
4-element SIW-CTS antenna obtains a 78% aperture efficiency and 2% bandwidth. |
