In this dissertation project, the core peripheral is called TI BLE sensor tag, which can be considered as a new generation of wearable device that allows developers to measure different kinds of parameters. There are 6 low-power sensors on one sensor tag that can detect temperature, humidity, pressure, acceleration, gyration and magnetism in real time. So far there are only a few mobile applications available on App Store that make use of sensor tag. Furthermore, people are paying more attention on the fitness, but the existing fitness apps on the App Store just teach users the methodology and use the gyroscope and GPS in the mobile devices itself to make things happen. None of them can connect to a peripheral to make the fitness more effective and more precise. Based on the current situation, the author decided to combine the peripheral and some reasonable methodologies together by developing a weight training mobile application for iPad. This mobile application fully utilizes the TI BLE sensor tag that allows users to calculate calorie consumption precisely and exercise more effectively. Additionally, it also involves health care including temperature and humidity alert. It also allows motion control and recognition that enables user to control the application based on the motions. Bluetooth low energy, also known as BLE, is an upgraded version of Bluetooth 3.0,
which consumes less power compared to the older version but with more amazing
features such as healthcare, pedometer, intelligent instrument and sensors etc. BLE
significantly expands the markets of Bluetooth, making it increasingly popular among
people.
In this dissertation project, the core peripheral is called TI BLE sensor tag, which can
be considered as a new generation of wearable device that allows developers to
measure different kinds of parameters. There are 6 low-power sensors on one sensor
tag that can detect temperature, humidity, pressure, acceleration, gyration and
magnetism in real time.
So far there are only a few mobile applications available on App Store that make use
of sensor tag. Furthermore, people are paying more attention on the fitness, but the
existing fitness apps on the App Store just teach users the methodology and use the
gyroscope and GPS in the mobile devices itself to make things happen. None of them
can connect to a peripheral to make the fitness more effective and more precise. Based
on the current situation, the author decided to combine the peripheral and some
reasonable methodologies together by developing a weight training mobile application
for iPad. This mobile application fully utilizes the TI BLE sensor tag that allows users
to calculate calorie consumption precisely and exercise more effectively. Additionally,
it also involves health care including temperature and humidity alert. It also allows
motion control and recognition that enables user to control the application based on
the motions. |
