Description
Summary:In this dissertation, an intelligent surveillance system has been developed for object tracking with master and slave cameras coordination. In the system, the master CCTV camera scans an entire view of the area under surveillance. The slave CCTV camera is coordinated to follow a target and zoom in to observe the target's details. When the object comes in the view of the master CCTV camera, this target is detected by background subtraction or Tracking-Learning-Detection algorithm, its location information is passed from the view of master CCTV cameras to the view of slave CCTV camera. The slave CCTV camera is driven to follow the target. The system has been evaluated in terms of camera coordination accuracy as well as object tracking performance. The method of coordinating a master CCTV camera and a slave CCTV camera is developed by the author for a camera system set up involving two calibrated CCTV cameras. In this method, the mapping between the pixel coordinates of a certain world point in the view of master CCTV camera and its real world coordinates is achieved, and hence it provides the location information of the world point for slave CCTV camera steering.
