Description
Summary:Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) is a bandwidth and power efficient communication scheme. The project would investigate how CPM parameters (i.e. number of frequency levels, instantaneous frequency and shape of the pulse) can be blindly estimated at the receiver. For this purpose a time-frequency analysis based methods would be used to track the instantaneous frequency of the CPM signal. Efficient frequency and instantaneous frequency estimation algorithms would be developed. The CPM signal frequencies which are used at transmitter side are obtained by time frequency analysis methods. The time frequency analysis methods such as Short Time Fourier Transform and Wigner Ville Distribution are used for this purpose. The performance of Short Time Fourier Transform and Wigner Ville Distribution are compared for different types of CPM signals. Instantaneous Frequency is tracked by using both time frequency analysis method and iterative dechirping of the signal. Number of frequency levels of CPM signal is estimated by clustering the frequencies of CPM signal segments. Hierarchical Clustering is used for clustering the CPM signal frequencies.
