الملخص:Marine renewable energy is developing at a fast pace. Wave and tidal in-stream (current) energy is ahead in terms of global deployment. Issues with regard to maximizing energy yield from a tidal/wave array in a given site has always been a challenge. Taking lessons from the wind energy industry, this research attempts to tackle the array optimization problem using MATLAB methods and improving these methods for a faster and computationally-effective manner. The developed method will be tested using resource information from Singapore waters (tidal current) for selected locations, and the arrangement of devices for optimal energy output will be tested under different grid spacing to see their performances. In this study, MATLAB codes and genetic algorithm toolbox were employed for the array optimization and the study mainly has two phases: study on constant tidal current velocity and study on real tidal current data got from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT).
