This has made way for the evolution of compact, small size and cost effective microwave devices. A key component in any microwave device is a filter. Researchers have come up with a considerable number of techniques to minimize the planar microwave device size. One such approach is the semi lumped element technique. Here, the filter components such as resonators, capacitors and inductors are realized using the small electrical components which can be implemented on the printed circuit board or the thin film technique. These techniques have proven to be successful so far. As the title 'Microwave circuits using CSRR (Complementary Split Ring Resonator) based left handed transmission line' in the project, a study on left handed transmission line concept adopted for the implementation of the design of the filter in the range of microwave frequencies is done. Initially, a survey on filters and filter applications is done. With the knowledge gained, a MATLAB code for a single cell with CSRR filter structure is written. The response of this structure with the varying capacitance and inductance is observed. With this analysis as a reference, filter structure is designed and simulated on the Rogers RO 3010 substrate using CST Microwave Studio tool. A study is run through different designs for the filter to obtain an optimum low pass filter response. The system is designed to have line impedance of 50 n for better matching. The main aim of the project is to design and analyze a miniature filter using the concept of left handed transmission line on metamaterials.
