Description
Summary:This project looks into achieving remote controlled flight via electrical stimulations of flight muscles in a small coleopteron, Eudicella Smithis, a six legged sub family of the scarab beetle family, Scarabaeidae. The purpose of this research paper is to correlate various parameters of optic lobe electrical stimulation with flight initiation in small coleopterons (Eudicella Smithis). Several experiments were designed and conducted to take note of the effect of optic lobe stimulation on the response time and consistency of flight initiation in small coleopteron. Three specimens were used in each variable(voltage, frequency, burst cycles) and the average result was recorded and tabulated. The results showed that there was no discernible relationship between the voltage applied and the reaction time of the specimen. However, a lower potential difference produced more consistent flight initiation in the specimen and increasing voltage reduced the reliability of the innervation process.
