When there is a lack of selfawareness, stress will ultimately gain a foothold in our lives. Since stress can be experienced in different ways for each person there is a need to first understand ourseleves. Only then can we take control of our stressful lives. Although each of us encounters stress differently, it is first manifested in the mind when it has accessed a stressor is present. Therefore this study aims to examine and reflect upon stress from the idea of brain states, as it tells a story about the brain and its activity, which in turn gives us a reflection of a person’s inner world – if a person is relaxed, or on a verge of a mental breakdown. Through self-awareness, can one be in tune with themselves and gain an insight into understanding their emotions, thoughts and stress levels.
