Description
Summary:The renewable energy such as solar and wind energy has been developed rapidly for decades, but the research in tidal stream turbine is just booming in recent years. Tidal energy has various advantages as a renewable energy source, such as clean, predicted. And the good use of tidal energy is a good target to discover for clean and sustainable energy resources. Hence it is important to understand and optimize the performance of the turbine and maximize the power harvesting under different working conditions. The keys of this project are to build up a model of variable-speed stream tidal turbine equipped with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and control this model. This project can be divided into two portions: system modeling and controller design. The modeling work will be implemented in Matlab environment. The target of the control part is to keep system harness maximum power from flowing waves at variable tidal speed. After adjustment of the controller, stable and efficient output can be obtained. Different controllers will be designed to satisfy different working conditions.
