Description
Summary:The purpose of this study is to strengthen the upfront planning by implementing systems engineering principles and methodology which can reduce the frequency of failure. This study is specifically concern ed with software embedded projects. Though software engineering has evolved considerably, the failure of software development projects never seems to diminish. The impact of project failure/ cancellation would result in huge negative impact on the resources of all stakeholders. This thesis first analyses a real Iife failed project to study the nature of the abandoned project. In this study Denver Baggage Handling System project is selected. The data for this study were collected from different interviews, magazines, journals and books. This study involves root cause analysis is performed on the selected project. On the basis of this analysis, different proposals for avoiding the project failure/ cancellation were proposed. This study proposes an integrated decision making framework and requirement analysis framework for achieving effective up front planning. These frameworks can be effectively implemented in the software projects for greater probability of success.
