This Industrial Attachment report is about my experience during the 20 weeks attachment I spent at Hwa Seng Builder Pte Ltd in the project team ER371 - Widening of Pan Island Expressway from Clementi Avenue 6 to Bukit Timah Expressway from January to May 2014. I was involved in the construction work as well as the planning work of the project. The project is separated into a few big parts, where one engineer is assigned to oversee each part. In this report, I will focus on the road work and the widening of the flyover. Through this attachment, I have more understanding about road pavement work and also the quality control for each layer, from sub-grade to asphalt wearing course. In addition, I was able to witness the widening of a flyover, which is a very precious opportunity. During the industrial attachment, I gained valuable knowledge that may not be learnt from school. I also understand how important team work is in order to bring success to a project. All of my colleagues are very helpful and willing to share their experience with me. In conclusion, the industrial attachment definitely benefits me as it gives me real world insights and exposure to actual working life.
