With highly dense population and highly developed transport network, Singapore have heavy traffic flow during peak hours. The demand of vehicles is increases very fast. Traffic monitoring system are developed to inform users of traffic condition (such as heavy traffic flow, breakdown or accident) and also can be used to analysis traffic condition to building smart traffic lights control system. This project is using Matlab to build a simulation model for vehicles counting for a video taken by stationary camera. This project is using computer vision and image process algorithm to build and simulate. This project includes foreground detection, objects detection, tracking and counting. Through this report, user will have a clear vision of traffic monitoring system and understanding concept and principle of whole system.
