However, much of the healthcare industry continues to rely on manual recording and management of such critical medical information. This is likely to result in human error and thus improper decision making on the medical professional’s part. In addition, the opportunity for real-time monitoring is lost as there will be a lack of seamless information flow between the stakeholders. Existing mobile health applications also face similar problems. Despite the availability of Medical measurement devices with Bluetooth communication technologies and the widely used smartphone technologies, much of the existing mobile health applications rely on manual input by the users. This is both error-prone and inefficient. In addition, the existing applications also focus on a single health area which is not suitable for a healthcare setting. Latest smartphone technologies can also be leveraged to further enhance healthcare applications to benefit the elderly and chronically diseased. The proposed system consists of 2 parts: MyHealthPal, a mobile Healthcare tracking and monitoring application developed for Android Applications which serves as the client. It allows users to input vital health measurements through automated inputs and Health Monitoring Profile (HMP), a web service which allows receiving vital health inputs from clients and seamless communication with MyHealthPal users via SMS, Voice calls and Video calls. The systems work together to achieve the objective of real time monitoring and tracking of personal healthcare data with seamless communication between the stakeholders. Smartphone technologies are also leveraged to develop features to benefit the target group.
