This paper presents an account of the personal viewpoints of professional Indian migrants in relation to Singapore’s multiculturalism. With the state’s heavy reliance on a migrant workforce, the vast immigration Singapore has seen has caused considerable grievances to be aired by the local public. By adopting a qualitative research method of semi-structured interviews, this study shows however that Indian professionals favourable view towards Singapore’s multiculturalism, and show the association with the habitus and cultural capital that they have inherited living in multicultural. This paper also demonstrates the conundrum that Indian professionals have toward race, and discusses the possible implications Singapore, as a multicultural nation, should head.
