الملخص:As technology continues to improve, the potential of supercapacitor gets larger in the market. The reason for its emergence is due to its higher surface area electrodes and the material used to achieve greater capacitances and power densities. The unique charge storage from this device brings attention to researchers and many are trying to find the optimal electrode materials so as to bridge the gap between conventional capacitors and batteries. This report demonstrates the device’s capabilities by using a metal hydroxide based asymmetric supercapacitor, in this case, Cobalt Hydroxide. Cyclic Voltammetry, Galvanostatic charge/ discharge and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy were employed to investigate its performance. Physical characterization techniques such as X-Ray Powder Diffraction and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope were also used to study the physical properties. These studies will provide detailed insight into the effect of surface area, morphology and the electrode-electrolyte interaction on the storage of charges.
