Description
Summary:The focus of this project was to observe how the hydrogen production through water splitting could be improved with help of photocatalyst and co-catalyst using photocatalysis process. g-C3N4 based photocatalyst with co-catalyst NiCoSx were firstly synthesized. Four different mass fractions of NiCoSx were loaded onto g-C3N4. The NiCoSx / g-C3N4 photocatalyst were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–vis) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The photocatalytic activities for photocatalytic hydrogen production under visible light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm) were measured using an aqueous solution containing triethanolamine as an electron donor. The optimization of NiCoSx amount on g-C3N4 was observed. The optimal amount was at 3% NiCoSx / g-C3N4.
