Description
Summary:The Medical Information System (MIS) was developed with the aim of providing medical professionals with a platform for storing of medical records in an electronic manner. This practice has proven to be a more efficient and reliable way to the safekeeping of a patient’s medical record as compared to physical safekeeping. In this project, MIS was extended to support the work of clinicians. The first step towards achieving this objective was to determine the requirements needed. The requirements analysis stage gave opportunies for brainstorming of ideas and understanding real life events in a medical setup. The use case diagrams and descriptions were soon produced which eventually led to the derivation of the functional and non-functional requirements. The design stage saw the creation of various models such as the activity diagrams and the user interface design. The implementation stage then saw these models being translated to codes. As per previous MIS works, MIS was developed using ASP.NET with C# as the front-end and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 suite as the back-end. Finally, in the testing stage, MIS was thoroughly tested to ensure conformance to requirements by undergoing unit, integration and system testing. In conclusion, the project has achieved its main goal in adding functionality to support the work of clinicians.
