Eye tracker input mechanism

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) sufferers are patients who lost their ability to communicate due to voluntary muscle loss. This problem can be overcome with the aid of a computer messenger. However, ALS patients are unable to interact with the computer because they are unable to move. Therefore,...

This problem can be overcome with the aid of a computer messenger. However, ALS patients are unable to interact with the computer because they are unable to move. Therefore, there is a communications problem between ALS patients and the computer. The aim of this project is to use eye tracking technology to solve the above problem and demonstrate how it can be applied in computer messenger. In addition, this report explores whether eye tracking technology is an optimal solution for ALS patients. Based on the project, eye tracking technology is a solution allowing ALS patients to interact with computer. However, the eye tracker has some disadvantages and conditions regarding accuracy sensing, which will be explained in this report.
