Summary: | The 2D animated short film aims to critique the Noise pollution in our modern day society through the subtleties of birds. The owl, the protagonist struggles to block out his neighbours. This project aims to change their ways of living – to promote consideration for others and how important sleep is. The inspiration stemmed from Singapore’s growing population and changing landscape.
The body needs to recuperate daily from the day’s activities. Noise pollution often results to stress and loss of sleep. When there is a loss of sleep, there is sleep deprivation that leads to the loss of focus. This directly affects productivity, safety and ultimately the country’s wellbeing. It is important to acknowledge that while noise pollution is a serious issue, it is difficult to curb due to the globalization. Cities such as Singapore in order to remain competitive, the government’s solution was to build more public houses to accommodate for the future. These houses described as ‘shoebox living’ are small and at close proximities to one another. This results in disagreements in the community. While economic growth and global competitiveness are important factors of a thriving country, there should be more consideration for such social issues |
