Summary:PANI nanofibers were synthesized via interfacial polymerization in this project. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen sorption, transmission electron microscopy, UV–visible spectroscopy and fourier transform infrared were several techniques used to characterized the synthesized nanofibers. Electrochemical sensor mounted with polyaniline nanofibers was then fabricated in an attempt to detect 2,4-dinitrotoluene (DNT) in an aqueous-medium. Results showed that PANI was able to effectively aid the electrochemical reduction process of DNT. Good linearity was obtained over 0.8 to 140 µM with detection limit at 0.01 µM. Moreover, PANI modified electrode showcased promising stability and reproducibility for DNT determination and relative insensitivity to common interfering species.
