Description
Summary:Offshore structures are normally encompassed by high pressure and highly corrosive conditions. There are many researches and studies have been made on offshore structures to improve and eliminate the unnecessary losses for both society and economy. Cracks are the inevitable forms of defects which causes failures. Two scenarios have been studied for the interactions between embedded cracks and surface cracks in the project. And the project adopted ABAQUS to execute Finite Elements Methods to compare the Crack Tip Opening Displacement (CTOD), about 50 models subjected to different positions of embedded cracks, different ratios of surface crack and increased bending angles to be simulated for getting the CTOD. Further studies have to be conducted for more explicit explanation of interaction effects between embedded cracks and surface cracks.
