This evolution process has taken place over the centuries, mostly visible from the ways that we communicate and the technology that we utilize to do so. In the early years where technology was still primitive, people communicated through the most basic way by using smoke signals and carrier pigeons. Over the next few decades, communication evolved to our current way of communicating, which allowed people to communicate wirelessly. This significant evolution was made possible with the antenna, a key component of the wireless communication system. In order for wireless communication to take place, antenna normally functions as a pair, with one attached to the transmitter and the other, with the receiver. The exchange of information then takes place through free space in terms of electromagnetic waves. Since then, wireless communication gained popularity and have instead, become a necessity due to its convenience. With the increasing demands to fabricate low cost antenna that is sufficiently small to integrate within devices that are continuously shrinking in size and at the same time, capable of communicating at high information exchange rate, antenna too has to evolve on its own to meet these demands.
