Summary: | Due to depletion of crude oil, a lot of research have been done on renewable energy
such as hydro, solar and wind power. Solar Energy produced the highest renewable energy
conversion efficiency in Singapore. Second generation solar cell has the advantages of
achieving low thickness and high flexibility which ignite the interest on this research project.
The objective of this project is to study the effects of interface on the Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS)
Thin Film solar cell device performance.
Acetate-based and chloride-based CZTS were used in this research. Research shown
that CZTS/MoS2 are able to form good ohmic contact which benefits carrier transportation.
Prediction is made that MoS2 interface will achieve the best device performance. Results
showed that Acetate-based CZTS achieved conversion efficiency of 4.17% with a fill factor
of 48.85. However, chloride-based CZTS showed that vacuum interface achieved the highest
efficiency of 0.5%. As compare to the literature review, there was a great differences on
efficiency due to incomplete reaction of CZTS, unfavourable scratches formation on the
interface, weak contact formed. |
