This Final Year Project report covers the use of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) for Improving Cost-effectiveness of Underground Space Developments.
This involves the 3D modelling of a tunneling project, 4D scheduling and sequencing as well as comparing the different construction methods available.
The 3D model is designed using Revit 2016, similar to the vastly studied Building Information Modeling (BIM) concept. The proposed Revit model offers a multi-dimensional modeling procedure to develop an integrated and interoperable tunnel information model.
The 4D scheduling and sequencing is done using Navisworks Manage 2016.
Navisworks Manage 2016 is not a 3D modeling program but a program that converts large REVIT 3D model files into smaller 3D models that are far more manageable for project management.
It is not a program to replace Revit, but a tool that works in conjunction with REVIT and makes certain processes such as scheduling and sequencing much more efficient.
The construction of the new Bugis Station and associated tunnels is used as a case study in this project. |
