Population aging is one of the driving force for healthcare wearables innovation. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, commonly used in such wearables, has a low energy consumption thus able to operate for several days on a single charge. This project is dedicated to elderly suffering from chronic diseases which require constant medication. The elderly care system developed in this project will give them periodic reminders following the preset medication schedule. The system consists of a BLE Smart Wearable wristband and an Android mobile application. Hardware and software used in the making of the wearable were documented in this report. In addition to the basic reminder function, extra features such as fall detection and battery level reading were also implemented. Printed Circuit Board of the wearable was designed and fabricated to make the device compact. This project serves as a starting point for developers aiming to make BLE wearable devices for the elderly. Additional functions can be built upon this project to create a more intelligent and reliable device.
