Microbeads are plastic microspheres made of polyethylene and are widely used in cosmetics and liquid soaps as exfoliating agents. The Microbeads pose an environmental hazard when disposed in waste water. Fish species that we humans harvest for food are known to eat micro-plastic particles at an alarming rate and the toxins in those plastics transfer to the fish tissue. The problem in raising environmental issues is that people don’t see these problems immediately. It is as though these environmental problems do not exist. I want to show they exist in the choices that we make in our daily living. To portray this issue in a manner that illustrates how every time consumers wash with these scrubs, they are polluting the water, in turn polluting their food. Microbeads can still be widely found in Singapore and the neighbouring countries of South East Asia.
