Petri net modelling of a supply chain
Given the complexities of supply chains in the world today, it becomes increasingly important to understand how any disruptions propagated along the supply chain. This FYP uses the Petri Net technique, and adopts a modular approach to construct a Petri Net model of a supply chain. This model is verified, and validated. The modular approach allows any supply chain with an arbitrary number of supply chain entities to be constructed. The possible types of disruptions this Petri Net model can analyse, and ways of quantifying their impact are also discussed. Examples of such disruptions include a reduction in the production capacity of a supplier, and a disruption to the volume of transported goods.
