Description
Summary:White LEDs are the new generation lighting equipment with high efficiency, low power consumption, cool operation temperature and many other advantages which have basically replaced incandescent light bulb. By using white LED lights, Visible Light Communication (VLC) has the potential to become new generation indoor wireless communication method. This report do research on Visible Light Communication System with white LED as transmitter, and discuss about the current feasibility of implementing VLC in real life with mobile phone camera and photo detector. Considering cheap smart mobile phones have play an important role in people’s everyday life, the most possible and convenient method is to combine VLC System with mobile phone camera. Due to the sensitivity of mobile phone camera, OOK signal is chosen to transmit data and over 11bits can be decoded from each photo. But as the concept of video mode and sensitivity of present mobile phone camera have their limit, video-decoding and real-time transmission can only reach the speed of 1kb/s. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) VLC System with photo detector as receiver is taken into consideration to improve the present system. With 16 QAM order and 50 MHz sample rate, the data rate can achieve 400 Mbps. Due to limitation of experiment situation, a simulation is done base on MIMO OFDM VLC System. Some MIMO-OFDM VLC experiment done with another group partner (under the author’s help) is permitted to reference as proof of some regular rules.
