Description
Summary:With the increasing awareness and usefulness of surveillance systems in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and radar systems it is seen as a necessary field of investment in most military and intelligence departments. The most widely used radar application in the industry would be the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system as the amount of advantages it can provide outweigh normal conventional beam scanning radars. A beneficial result of using a SAR system would be its ability to produce high resolution 2D imaging of strips of lands or targets even under different weather conditions, which sparked the interest of this final year project. In this report the building blocks and functionality of each component which forms up the entire Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system would be discussed and explained as it is the fundamental system to be built up first before adding on the SAR features for 2D imagery processing.
