Description
Summary:Energy saving and efficiency are always the top most important considerations when it comes to energy consumption. In a typical building, research shown that 50% of the total energy consumption were used by the Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Hence, this project aims to reduce the amount of energy consumption by the HVAC system by estimating parameters involved using the help of software, EnergyPlus, where simulations will be run to obtained results. Fundamental of the HVAC systems will also be provided as the background information to enhance the understanding of the principles of how the HVAC systems work. Research on HVAC systems is an ongoing study since HVAC systems are commonly and widely used in the world. More and more improved and better systems are being researched and developed to replace the conventional HVAC system to increase energy efficiency and lower energy consumption. Hence, reducing the financial aspect of the HVAC systems. This project will first construct a model building with realistic input s and HVAC systems and follow by running energy simulation in the EnergyPlus software to obtain simulated output results for comparison purposes.
