Summary: | A smart building system (SBS) can achieve a building automation and energy optimization through control of an interconnected network of physical components. Indoor positioning system (IPS) is a critical input to optimize the operational performance of a building. However, to perform real-time data analytics for indoor positioning is challenging due to limited computing resources on SBS Internet-of-things (IoT) platform. This research studies a Wi-Fi-based IPS that is specifically designed for SBS and explores the performance improvement with proposed distributed machine learning algorithms. This paper compares the different indoor positioning system and explain why the Wi-Fi based system is chosen. As an extension research, this research applied a new algorithm to compare the difference between SVM and this algorithm these two approaches. Compared with SVM, ELM has a better performance on saving time with a fast learning speed. The distributed algorithm shows a higher accuracy than basic ones. As an extension research, this paper not only explored more deeply based on previous job, also made a good preparation for future work. |
