This project aims to help improve the user experience on watching lecture videos and using discussion board. To achieve, an online commenting system for video sharing websites has been developed and named as On-Screen Messaging System (OSMS). In this project, a web application named iCon is developed. iCon is an experimental web application which implements on-screen messaging system. It contains a general account mechanism where two type of users with different levels of authorities are recognized. Besides, on-screen messaging system, independent comment system, and feedback functions are implemented as well. In addition, the user interface of this web application is well designed to provide great visual experience for users. The highlight of this project is the implementation of HTML5 Video Player instead of Flash Player plugin. It provides a better performance on iOS, and will be popular among users of mobile device.
