Satellite telecommunication link and solar radiation

In recent years, researches have been done on Solar Radiation which is a natural source of energy coming from the sun. Solar Radiation have been deem as very important as it not only provide warm and light but it can also be converted into other source of energy. This report will discuss about a Fin...

Solar Radiation have been deem as very important as it not only provide warm and light but it can also be converted into other source of energy. This report will discuss about a Final Year Project that revolves around the study on how factor like Cloud Optical Thickness will affect the Solar Radiation and to investigate the correlation between these two parameters. The detail of meteorological data processing will be also discussed in this report, the data processed includes Cloud Optical Thickness data recorded by MODIS (satellites under NASA), solar radiation data measured by weather station located at NTU, Clear Sky solar radiation model for Singapore region as well as other information that are needed for the whole process to find the correlation. For the whole project, MATLAB software has been used to process and analyse the results. The correlation between the Cloud Optical Thickness and Solar Radiation will be useful in the future to calculate the cloud attenuation as Cloud Optical Thickness is related to Liquid Water Path.
