This Online Gaming System is a next-generation product in the gaming industry that inherits useful features from the cloud industry. The objective for this system is to allow a large pool of games to be playable on any kind of internet connected devices while avoiding issues like application compatibility and low performance. However, in the existing system, problems such as metadata conflict limit the system’s performance. Consequentially, such a system is unable to meet the objective, which results in poor gaming experience. For purpose of fulfilling the objective, solutions are proposed for some existing problems that limit the online gaming system’s capacities. These problems include metadata conflict and poor metadata synchronization. In order to solve those problems, techniques such as Network File System are introduced and applied. New functions such as “setuid” function are called. Furthermore, improvements to the original design are made to enhance the system’s performance. The detail information of the implementation are further elaborated in the report. Finally, functional and system tests are conducted. Overall result shows improves the operational performance of the gaming system. Therefore, the adopted solutions meet the project’s objective.
