Description
Summary:As a type of smart material, shape memory polymers (SMP) have been studied in both the academic community and the industries. Shape memory polymer is capable to deform to a fixed temporary shape and return to its original shape by applying a suitable stimulus. Stimulus is in a form of external force that causes stress to the shape memory polymer, one common stimulus will be heat. Mechanical behaviors of shape memory polymer will differ with respect to phase transition temperature. These smart material have been put to test in many real world applications for its shape memory effect. However, more research can be done on different product to explore more about this interesting shape memory technique. Using temperature as a stimulus, an application of anti-heat transfer label will be discuss in this project. With this shape memory effect, the usefulness of the temperature label in the industries can be further examined.
