Stress-strain relationship of confined concrete with corroded transverse reinforcing bars

In this research, experiments were done to study 1) the stress-strain behavior of circular reinforced concrete column with different degree of lateral confinement, 2) the reduction of strength and ductility of the circular column due to the corrosion of stirrups. Besides, Finite Element Modeling...

Besides, Finite Element Modeling (FEM) by using OpenSees (Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation) has been developing to model the stress-strain behavior of circular RC column. 15 small-scale circular RC columns, which under different corrosion level, were subjected to monotonic compressive loading, and the stress-strain behaviors of those columns were compared and analyzed. The experimental results show that the circular column with more lateral confinement can provide a larger compress strength as well as a better ductility. As the corrosion level increases, the ductility of RC column is easier to be affected compared with the strength reduction of RC column.
