Incorporating the transmission power flow into Singapore Market Clearing Model (MCM)

The Market Clearing Model (MCM) software is a tool to dispatch the bidding offers from Generation Companies in the Singapore real-time wholesale electricity market. Before this study, the MCM has been developed by researchers in DNV GL. The version of this model does not include the transmission pow...

Before this study, the MCM has been developed by researchers in DNV GL. The version of this model does not include the transmission power flow. It means there is a lack of accurate indication for the real market practice. In this report, the transmission power flow is considered in this model. The model will have an improvement by incorporating the calculation of transmission power flow into the previous computing framework. The new MCM will produce a different optimal dispatch schedule and the Market Clearing Price (MCP) of energy, reservation and regulation. Unlike the previous MCM, each node has its Locational Marginal Price (LMP) while in the previous version the whole system only has one LMP value. This model is implemented in the MatLab environment with linear programming. The simulation data is used to validate the effectiveness of the MCM. The sensitivity analysis has been conducted to assess the influence from varying certain factors, such as the various effects on the network benefit.
